Miscellaneous Monday

miscell monday

ReadingThe Book of Joy by Dalai Lama XIV, Desmond Tutu, and Douglas Carlton Abrams. I received some lovely book mail and started right away. It’s very satisfying and I’m going to take my time with this one. It isn’t out until September, maybe October. Other than that, I returned all my “heavier” reads to the library. I just can’t right now. Any suggestions for something fun and light?

Wanting…to thank everyone with their kind words of support and for sticking with me while the blog has been rather quiet. I’ve only been able to muster up an update post once a week for some time. Well…I’m all done with classes and finished up my post-Masters ELL/ESL endorsement.  The feeling is fantastic and I learned so much. The workload paid off because I was offered a teaching job last week. I will be a middle school teacher working with students who are ESL/ELL as well as diagnosed Special Education. Not only will I be responsible for a caseload of students, I will be following a push-in/pull-out model of teaching Math, English and Reading. I can’t wait to meet the team I will be working with and already have lessons and ideas brewing for these kids. And of course…all the supplies.

Thinking…of buying some sort of planner. I’ve been looking at all of them…the Erin Condren, Plum Paper Designs, Emily Ley, Inkwell Press, iBloom, Dreams2Inspire. But I’m edging towards the Passion Planner. I’m a simplistic, less fussy person and this one spoke to me. I also need one that can serve dual purposes: personal life and work life. Also, for every planner that is bought, they give one away and the reflections and “not to-do-list” sections are a nice touch. Any thoughts, planner friends?!

Watching…the Instagram videos. Ugh! I got sucked in. I was all against them, and still am to a point, but I’m a sucker for those sped up recipe videos. I know Tasty started the whole thing on FB, but Yoland Gampp’s cakes are insane. I so wish I could be as talented. Have you seen the pineapple one? Ridiculous! And then I watch cute animal videos, cookie decorating, yoga, people smearing around paint and poking goop. It’s all mind-numbing and relaxing while time-sucking my reading away. I would delete all my social media apps but then, I don’t. And I’m a visual person, so the app works for me. I don’t follow many famous people besides authors and inspirational ones but Chris Rock’s is one of my favorites. This one is perfect. And this one. Okay, one more. He is equally funny as sincere. Oh and yes, I’m watching the Olympics, of course.

Needing…just a little more time of summer. I only have four days left with my girls before I start the new job on Friday. I’m going to make the best of it.

One little word…gratitude.

  1. Haha – lighter reads have been the only things really working for me the past few months as well! Have no idea why. So, yes, I have some recommendations for you 🙂 Siracusa by Delia Ephron, You Will Know Me by Megan Abbott, and The Hopefuls by Jennifer Close. And, The Expatriates if you haven’t read that one yet.

  2. Congrats on finishing school and the new job – that’s so great and exciting!!! You’re going to do so great.
I ended up going with a Plum Paper planner, but I love the Passion Planners, too.
