Miscellaneous Monday

miscell monday

ReadingEveryday Sexism by Laura Bates and Girls & Sex by Peggy Orenstein. I have much to say about both and hopefully will post a combined review this week. It’s been so long since I’ve talked about books here on the blog. I miss it.

Feeling…sick. I’ve been internally smug and boastful about not being sick in such a long time. I usually get horrendous sinus infections a couple times a year. Well, it hit me hard a few days ago. All I’ve wanted to do is cover my head and eyes with pillows and wish the pressure away. Karma.

Watching…New Girl on Netflix. I caught a few reruns on TV while in sick mode and was interested to see more. I’m not sure about it. It’s funny at times and then I get really mad because of all the constant, sexist comments. Not sure if I will continue. Anyone watch this? What do you think of it? Maybe there is a reason why you shouldn’t binge watch a show. Too much too soon?

Loving…Emoji equality. Yesterday I noticed that Google had a picture of emojis and the call for emoji equality where women are represented in many different professions by Made with Code. I LOVE IT! So of course I designed my own emoji. Here I call it “scholarly medalist”. It’s Olympic season and I haven’t been a hard core athlete in decades. With being in school, yet again, I’m giving myself a gold metal for my academic achievements. And a smirk. Go make one!

One little word…perseverance. (I’m in the home stretch of summer classes. Three more weeks. It’s been much more challenging than I thought it would be.
