Miscellaneous Monday

miscell monday

Reading…Well, I finished and reviewed Before the Fall, which really worked for me. I don’t normally read many thriller/suspense novels, so I was happily surprised by how much it kept my attention. I also finished Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are? and Grief is the Thing With Feathers. Reviews to come but all three are very different books and great in their own ways. Not sure what I will read next.

Listening…to Counting By 7s on audio with my kids. I’ve already fallen in love with main character Willow Chance. The audio is excellent and I wonder if some of the context and tone would be lost in print. I also think I’m loving it more than my kids. They haven’t spent much time listening to storytelling via audio so this is different for them.

Loving…the weather. Aside from some rainy days, it’s been my ideal weather. Heat with a breeze. Sunshine with cloud breaks. Not too buggy at night. Now that I’ve said all this, did I jinx it?

Thinking...I may be over this whole home improvement/project thing. Maybe that’s why I’ve stopped watching HGTV. So over it all. Planning it is one thing. Pinning pictures and dreaming up ideas is all fine and good. Ordering pieces and picking out materials is fun. Depending on contractors for the actual work is another beast entirely. Being in limbo is a place that makes me anxious. But like my best guy says, “It is what it is”. He’s right but every time he says it, I hate the phrase more and more. There will be many more years of home improvements so I should just suck it up and quit the whining but I’m getting less and less patient with the whole process in general.

Wanting…some motivation.

Needing…some inspiration.

One little word…perseverance.

What are you reading this week?

What’s going on with you?

  1. I’m with you on the home improvement thing. We bought our house 5 years ago and did a lot of renovation initially (new floors, new walls, new bathroom, etc.). Now, we just refinanced in hopes to takes on the remaining projects that were out of budget and I want to, but I don’t. So finished basement and bathroom upgrade, here we come, with a side of trepidation.
