It’s Monday, February 29th. What Are You Reading?

Happy Leap Day! I’m not finishing as many books as I would like. The struggle is real but I’m not dwelling on it. While the DNF list is increasing, books that are “good” but not holding my attention are being returned to the library. I feel like a surge of great reading begins and then fizzles out. I did finish Pax this weekend and it was such an emotional middle grade read. The animal/human relationship is one that hits all the feels.

This week I’m excited to start The Heart by Maylis de Kerangal, translated by Sam Taylor. Maybe even tackle a few more short stories I picked up at the library unexpectedly, but we’ll see. I’m also trying to catch up on some podcasts that fell by the wayside these past few months. Also distracting my reading time is Broad City. Anyone watch that? It’s definitely NSFW or with kids around but I binge watched season 1 and hoping to pick up season 2 at the library tomorrow. It’s hilarious, well-written and the cast is a breath of fresh air.

What are you reading this week?

  1. I have to admit that I don’t really DNF as much as I used to. I hope that means I am getting better at picking what I like to read? Or maybe it is just luck!

  2. I hope The Heart works out for you. I have a stack of library books sitting on my shelf and none of them are calling to me right now–I wound up checking out a bunch of ebooks instead. So maybe it’s just that time of the year.

  3. Oooh, I love Broad City. It’s possibly the best TV comedy currently on. All the scenes of Abbi at her work at Soulstice are especially funny. I’ve seen seasons one and two, and I’m looking forward to seeing more.

  4. Oh and I just put Pax on my to-read list because of your mention. I was getting all sad already from just reading the blurb. I don’t know if I can actually take it. Animal stories, like Hachi, really kill me …
