It’s Monday, February 8th. What Are You Reading?

crossing to safety

I feel like I’m finally getting into a grove with balancing academia reading/homework and reading for pleasure.  I’m sneaking in any few minutes I have to crack open books I want to read rather than ‘half-to’ because of ARC deadlines, etc. I purposely did not request any ARCs this month because last month I requested four and while they were good, it was a bit much.

I just started Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner and with only a few chapters in, I’m in love.  It’s been on my TBR list for a long, long time and for some reason we connected this week. It was available at the library and I needed a “classic”, focusing on characters and relationships. It’s like comfort food at this point and I want to ignore all other responsibilities. I like to call it Backlist Bliss.

That’s it! I’m only reading one book this week (well, aside form my ongoing short stories).

How about you? What are you reading this week?

  1. Gah, the balance of academic and pleasure reading is so hard. I distinctly remember when I was supposed to be writing my thesis proposal (and getting ready to defend), and I was lying in the floor of my graduate assistant office reading New Moon. That was a fail, obviously, but it’s representative of the good fight that went on throughout grad school. lol Good luck to you!
