It’s Monday, January 18. What Are You Reading?

23995231[1] Your Heart is A Muscle

The fact that I’m posting this at 9pm says it all. This week kicked my butt. But I’m here and this isn’t my first rodeo balancing work and school. But this time around I have kids and a dog that just had a big surgery. Don’t you just hate seeing your pet so helpless and in pain? She’s really tough but it still took a lot out of me this past week. I was actually in bed Saturday night by 8pm!

So…I’m still listening to Circling the Sun by Paula McLain and loving it! Getting lost in Beryl Markham’s world is just what I need right about now. I also read a few ARCs that I requested and they were just ok. Not sure if I’ll do and entire post or a recap. I did just start Your Heart Is a Muscle the Size of a Fist by Sunil Yapa which just released last week. I’m only a chapter in, so the verdict is still out.

Well, gotta get some homework done, check on the kids (furry ones as well) and get a book to read in bed!

What are you reading this week?

  1. Last year our dog had a couple of major surgeries, so I know how you feel. It’s very sad, partly because you can’t explain to them what’s going on. I hope she has a speedy recovery!

    • I hope so. My reading start this year has been “just ok” so hoping this one wakes me up a bit. She is doing much better, thanks! It sucks but she’s a tough one and is working our sympathy with all the extra treats and attention. 🙂

  2. I hope you enjoy Your Heart Is A Muscle as much as I did! I feel for your dog… I hate when mine isn’t feeling well. At least they always seem to snap back around pretty quickly… quicker than us humans, that’s for sure!

  3. I do know the dog/pet issue and I’m sorry you guys are going through this. Appendages crossed your pup is well on the mend. I, too, have been disappointed in some ARCs and have a hard time figuring out how to deal with that. I feel a responsibility to write something, but don’t want to write a bunch of negativity. It really makes me not want to request advanced copies anymore.

    • I am so with you, lady! I told myself I wasn’t going to request and then broke down with four in January. And the funny thing is I put some requests in at the library for the ones I didn’t request and got them right away. I need to practice more patience! And thanks about the pooch. She is doing much better but had me really worked up there for a while.
