I had every intention of reading these books. I talked about them. Wrote up posts for how excited I was to read them. Put some on hold. Picked the holds up. And then something happened. Some of these books were returned unread. One was started and I was thoroughly enjoying it before life intervened and I had to put it aside.
And let’s face it. There are many more out there that I am sure I will finally pick up in 2020 and say, “I finally got to this backlist book from 2015. It was so good! What took me so long?” Here are just nine of the books I would have definitely given more of my attention to last year if the year was made up of thirteen months. Picking just ten books seemed impossible and I could have easily picked twenty more. (Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.)
There’s Something I Want You To Do: Stories by Charles Baxter
The Royal We by Heather Cocks & Jessica Morgan
The Outer Harbour: Stories by Wayde Compton
The Star Side of Bird Hill by Naomi Jackson
Infinite Home by Kathleen Alcott
Kitchens of the Great Midwest by J. Ryan Stradal
Circling The Sun by Paula McLain (Just started the audio yesterday!)
The Visiting Privilege: New and Collected Stories by Joy Williams
Mothers, Tell Your Daughters by Bonnie Jo Campbell
Which book did you miss last year?
Can you help me pick one more for my list?
