It’s Monday, December 7. What Are You Reading?

I’m finally getting to this post at night, so it’s been hectic in my neck of the woods. A good hectic.

Realization has set in that I’m not going to get to all of the books I want to read before 2015 comes to a close. And I’m ok with it. A tad bit sad to return some of the books I won’t get to but will enjoy the ones I have.

Being Mortal aquarium

I’m still listening to Being Mortal by Atul Gawande and loving it. Working with seniors at the library has given me such a great reference point. Also having a few family members in the 80+ club has been such a roller coaster of emotions these past few years and this book is hitting close to home. I guess saying I am loving it is not quite the right word but I’m feeling like Gawande is touching upon an issue many don’t talk about. I have much to say on this topic!!

I just started Aquarium by David Vann after being intrigued by the review on Kirkus. I can’t really say if I’m enjoying it, for the language is different and the story feels like something big is going to happen. I’m feeling a sense of dread while reading it and not sure why.

What are you reading this week?

  1. I, too, am not going to make my goal for all the books I want to read in 2015. I’m kind of disappointed, but I did go through a November slump, which did not help any! All we can do is hope to end the year reading amazing books! 🙂

  2. These are interesting books. I’m glad the first is relatable to you in some way. I am not an avid book buyer anymore. I utilize our terrific library database and only buy Kindle books that I know I would read over and over again. But I had fun participating in the Goodreads Reading Challenge this year and am over my goal. I plan to set it higher for 2016.
