Book Blog Memes / Bookish Discussions

It’s Monday, August 3rd, 2015. What Are You Reading?

After last Monday’s post, I dove right into the library stack I picked up and got reading. Fifteen Dogs by André Alexis was weird and wonderful and Bull Mountain is holding my attention. I also posted on the weekend, which is rare for me, but had to share some books I am looking forward to releasing this month. In the post I mentioned that I am excited to read Shirley Jackson’s new unpublished collection in Let Me Tell You (which comes out tomorrow). In preparation I also picked up some of her backlist to reread.

I also spent a good portion of yesterday changing up the blog look a bit. I haven’t taken the leap to go out on my own with self-hosted but WordPress offered some new upgrades like new fonts and color schemes so I played around. Still looking to design a logo for the blog but PicMonkey also has some great options as well.

  1. Blog is looking great! I made the self-hosted jump several months ago, and it really wasn’t as much of a JUMP as I thought, and I’m horrible at computer stuff. Luckily I have more seasoned blogger friends who I can harass into helping 🙂

I’m glad you’re enjoying Bull Mountain, it’s gooood stuff. And I REALLY need to get to reading some Shirley Jackson already.

  2. I read Bull Mountain recently, so look forward to your thoughts. I’ve not read any Shirley Jackson since high school or junior high, I don’t think. Need to remedy that, will watch to see what you think is good!

  3. I LOVE Shirley Jackson! I remember reading ‘The Lottery’ in my first year of uni and finding it utterly chilling. I read The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle a few months back, and they’ve been among my favourite reads this year. There are scenes from The Haunting of Hill House that still keep me awake at night.
