It’s Monday, January 26, 2014. What Are You Reading?

I have been riveted by Mrs. Hemingway by Naomi Wood all weekend! Shannon from River City Reading recommended this book last year at BEA and I picked up a copy, only to place it alongside all my other TBR books, hoping to get to it sooner. I was able to download an audio version from my library so I set out on my Friday journey completely entertained. When I returned home, I continued with the print copy and haven’t been able to put it down since. Thanks Shannon! Once again, an excellent rec! Review to come this week.

The Honest Truth by Dan Gemeinhart is due out tomorrow, January 27th. One of my goals this year was to read more middle grade books with some depth. A challenge I have at the library is recommending books for the middle graders who aren’t ready or interested in some of the heavier themed YA novels. The are looking for “meatier” books that stray away from the comic/diary style books that are flooding the shelves, so I’m determined to build up my middle grade vault. I’m in the thick of this debut novel and not sure yet of my feelings, but a review is to come later this week along with a another middle grade book that I loved.

  1. I’m glad you’re enjoying Mrs. Hemingway! It does a shockingly job good telling the stories of Hemingway’s wives, despite being such a short book.
