Friday Feature : Mutemath

Mutemath is not a new band. They’ve been around since 2003 but I just can’t enough of them. I’m frequently stalking their site for tour dates and buzz about a new album release. Their last album, Old Soul, was released in 2011. Let’s hope they are actively working on new material but that doesn’t stop me from burning out their older albums. They are a band that I just haven’t been privileged to see live yet. And I must mention that I am a bit in love with Paul Meany (lead singer).

This alternative rock band from New Orleans creates music that is energetic, addictive, layered…I dare you not to get hooked!

“Chaos” Official Music Video:

They can also mellow it down beautifully with this acoustic version of “Chaos”:

“I know you stay true when my world is false
Everything around’s breaking down to chaos
I always see you when my sight is lost
Everything around’s breaking down to chaos”  ~ “Chaos” by Mutemath

Did I mention the lyrics?! Okay, one more and probably my favorite song, “Noticed”. I sometimes think these types of videos are cheesy because there are just words on a screen but it allows the song to affect you without a visual, all the effects and Paul commanding the stage. This is why I love Mutemath and this song: the beautifully written poetic lyrics, the layers of the instruments, the pronunciation and intonation of the words…they are spectacular! Can you imagine someone dedicating this song to you or writing this about you?

You can also start to stalk them here and learn about them here.
