On a personal note...

4th Annual Armchair BEA…Introductions

Book Expo America and the Book Blogger Convention is currently underway in New York. For many of us who would love to attend, it’s simple impossible. Until finding this:

It’s a brilliant way for bloggers, publishers and authors to connect and discuss favorite books, sponsor giveaways and discuss literary topics. But, I didn’t just find it on my own. I happen to be following another amazing blogger with a passion for all things books and so the cycle continues. Thanks Lizzy at My Little Book Blog. Her link can be found here:

So, I had to answer five questions of my choice upon joining:

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

Hi, I am a part time teacher and obsessed book/music lover. I recently started The Daily Dosage a few months ago looking to share my love for all things literature and music. They are interchangeable, both telling stories, carry a tempo, have a rise and fall, seep into your soul, leave a mark. Both have been a huge part of my life at an early age and nothing aside from my children can evoke such strong emotional responses.

What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading The Last Letter From Your Lover by Jojo Moyes. It spans between 1960 England to 2003. The story revolves around a found love letter and the mystery of what happened to the couple involved…all I can say right now is IT IS EPIC!  I recently read Me Before You and completely fell in love with her writing style. Now I want to read all of her books….ah, the pile grows.

Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.

I am a huge hockey fan, namely, The Chicago Blackhawks!  It began in middle school while watching my classmates play on the weekends. I don’t wear the face paint or dress up, but I understand those who do. I get the love. My kids get embarrassed when I yell at the T.V. and I warn friends who want to watch a game with me that I get extremely passionate and maybe a bit vulgar. 😉

What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?

So many to choose from but will have to go with Chawton ~ Jane Austen’s home. She fascinates me with her work. Her social commentary, realism and biting irony carry over to many current novels today.  I took an amazing English Literature class in High School and the teacher, Mr. Frawley, was so passionate and engaging that  I just fell in love with English Lit. Having a British mother helps, I guess.  Wait, she would make me emphasize that she is Scottish. (It’s a big deal…to her)

What is your favorite part about the book blogging community?

Meeting such a wide range of book bloggers with varied tastes has been an education. There are so many undiscovered books and authors out there waiting to be read and heard. I enjoy popular new releases but get most excited when I find a review about a book and author I’ve never heard about and get swept away by the writing and story. I can’t believe the author has been around for years and I am just discovering them now. It’s like getting an unexpected gift. My music and literature tastes are really eclectic and I am excited that the blogging community allows me to express those preferences.

  1. If it were possible it sure would be nice to be friends with Jane Austen. To really get to know her and the process of novel writing for her. Great pick. Nice to meet you.

  2. There is really nothing like this community 🙂 It’s the best and we should be ultra-proud to be a part of it!

I hope you’re enjoying the ABEA! Happy reading
